Theme Exhibition, "The History of Childbirth" April 2024

Theme Exhibition, "The History of Childbirth" April 2,2024.

〜Childbirth is a major life event for women〜The exhibition period is from April to June 2024.

The exhibit is being held in conjunction with the Women's Archives Center's special exhibition "The History of Childbirth" (scheduled for March to September).

When giving birth in Japan, you will need to use the "Mother and Child Health Handbook."    When did you start using your handbook?

Materials relating to the history of childbirth and modern childbirth are on display.    "NWEC" has many related books.

First, check against the list.

This is where the volunteers' skills come into play.    How can we display the birth photos?

We are all doing the final check.   Related domestic newspaper articles are also included here.

This is the completed whole picture.

Zoom in to check the left and right sides of the display case.

A poster from the Archive Center.   It shows a fun video with babies.

Here is a list of materials used in the exhibition.

Flower beds for spring, March 2024

Flower beds for spring.

On the afternoon of March 27, 2024, the weather can be changeable in spring, so volunteers chose sunny weather to maintain the flower beds.

Flowers waiting for their turn today.

The gorgeous yellow and pink flowers are snapdragon  (known as "kingyosou" in Japanese). The red blooming flowers are primroses (also called "sakurasou").

We all have fun maintaining the flower beds.

Transfer in a well-balanced way.

A slight breeze helps with the work.

The flower bed is filled with flowers

Beautiful flowers after being watered.

After enjoying working together outdoors, the children chat in the room.

We all had a great time talking about our home vegetable gardens.

and, The nwec building is now beautiful after the renovation work is complete.

(Regular liaison meeting,FY2023-3、March 5, 2024)

The final volunteer liaison meeting for FY2023 was held in a hybrid format with face-to-face meetings and Zoom online.

f:id:nwec1977:20240312201105j:image

After various information was provided by NWEC, a voluntary meeting was held as "volunteer time".

First session:

This year's activities for each volunteer group were reported.

Second session:

A reading drama related to gender was performed by volunteers.

This story is based on an old Japanese legend, and is about a small boy who learns to express his opinion.

"In normal society, men are bigger and stronger than women"!   He said this is wrong.

From gender-related troubles,Let's create a society where diverse lifestyles are possible!    (Well, that's the story)

Third session:

We reconfirmed our activity policy as volunteers. As a group, we discussed our reports and reflections from this year.

P.S.

The title of the reading drama was "Chot-chan ga Yuku". It means "Chot-chan travels through life."

Hina Doll 2024

Hina doll 2024 2024.2.22

This year the volunteers also had fun and decorated Hina Dolls.

Assembling the 7th stage.

With the power of women, anything is possible when we all work together.

I checked it several times and it's fine. The next step is to line up this Scarlet blanket.

Both the dolls and the people working on them are getting older, so we find it difficult to work with the small parts of the dolls.

Now that we have assembled it, we are checking it against the manual.

Let's all do a final check.

The completed 2024 Hina doll decoration. This is a traditional Japanese festival for girls this season.

White plum and red plum trees are quietly in full bloom.
We took a commemorative photo.
